Title IX was passed 54 years ago — but the promise of equal educational opportunity remains unfulfilled.
There are Black and Brown girls who are disciplined at disproportionately high rates. There are transgender and nonbinary students who face bullying and harassment at school. There are young women in college who continue to experience sexual assault at higher rates than their peers.
Every student deserves a safe, inclusive learning environment where they can learn, participate, and thrive.
Title IX remains one of our nation’s most important civil rights protections in education. AAUW will continue to fight for strong enforcement of inclusive Title IX policies that fulfill their promise of equal educational opportunity for all students.
On July 8, join AAUW for a webinar to learn how issues like education and civil rights are shaping the future for women and girls nationwide.
