The focus of her talk will be Energizing! Next\, we will conduct our biennial business meeting with Malinda Gaul presiding. With a strong international development background\, she also leads AAUW’s global initiatives and engagement as main representative to the United Nations. \nShe is a prominent thought leader on issues ranging from equity for women in higher education and STEM to economic empowerment and the gender pay gap. She has been featured in panels\, podcasts\, symposia and prominent media outlets such as TIME\, USA Today\, The Washington Post\, the Chronicle of Higher Education\, Bloomberg Education\, and ABC News. Her leadership has been recognized by the International Alliance of Women\, Diverse Issues in Higher Education\, Crittenton Services of Greater Washington and She’s the First\, among others. \nPrior to joining AAUW\, Gloria was the director of Africa education programs at the Institute of International Education (IIE) and managed fellowships programs. She also served as a Peace Corps staff member and volunteer in Africa. She holds a master’s degree in education and human development from the George Washington University\, a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from the Edmund A. She chaired the Women and the Law and Labor and Employment Law sections of the State Bar of Texas and was President of the Texas Employment Lawyers Association. \nMalinda is a Fellow with the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers\, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)\, San Antonio Youth Literacy\, Equal Justice Center\, and Merced Housing Texas. \nMalinda joined the San Antonio\, Texas Branch of AAUW in 1989 and has served in many capacities\, from Legal Advocacy Fund Liaison to President. She remains active in her branch\, hosting interest groups and doing the monthly newsletter. \nShe has served on the AAUW national board\, most recently completing a term as AAUW National Vice Chair. He performs several times a week in local clubs\, both as a solo act and as a guest member with other performers. More often than not\, Flewellyn shares the spotlight with only his Martin 000 Orchestra acoustic guitar. D.G. has performed solo and ensemble with a wide range of musicians\, including Ian Moore\, Lou Ann Barton\, Acoustic Alchemy\, The Flatlanders\, David Halley\, and Sonny Curtis.
