Tell Texas Lawmakers: Don’t Mess with Our Democracy!
From our Friends at the League of Women Voters of Texas

The Texas Legislature is rushing through a flawed, mid-decade redistricting process without new census data, transparency, or meaningful public input.

As part of the Fair Maps Texas Coalition, the League of Women Voters of Texas is standing up against this power grab.

Last week, more than 3,000 Texans testified at redistricting hearings across the state, and over 4,000 public comments were submitted. Click here to view the testimony given by LWV Texas at the hearing in Austin. The message was loud and clear: the process is broken, and many believe it’s being rigged on purpose..

On Wednesday, lawmakers released a new congressional map that is gerrymandered, discriminatory, and drafted in secret. Now, they’re rushing it through committee, leaving voters little time to review or respond before it’s finalized.

Here’s what’s wrong:

  • Racial gerrymandering is being used to silence communities of color.
  • Hearings are announced with minimal notice.
  • Proposed maps are released just hours before public testimony.
  • Private D.C. lawyers are advising lawmakers behind closed doors.

We deserve better. Texas deserves better.

Join the League of Women Voters of Texas in demanding a fair, transparent redistricting process that serves all Texans, not just political insiders!

Make your voice heard! Make it count.
